Nugget Pierce came to us in June of 2016, he was just the cutest little guy you ever saw. We quickly got attached, and he got super attached to my wife, Ann. Nugget followed her everywhere and would hardly go outside without her. Then around June of 2024 he decided to grab a small corn cob from her plate and took off with it, right under the bed. Ann got some of it from him, but he swallowed the rest. Knowing he couldn’t pass it, we headed to the vet. Once there they saw the corn cob and also a large mass in his abdomen, yelp it was cancer. About a week later we got into VCA Oncology, they were great. Dr Weinstein said it was a very difficult surgery to remove the tumor, as it was large for his small body and around nerves. The day after surgery was touch and go, we didn’t think he was gonna make it. We he did, the came chemo and radiation. That was tough on him and we thought he was be OK. New Years Eve we ended up back at the Emergency Pet Hospital, he had a fever, wouldn’t eat, and was lathergic. They did an xray and blood work, nothing seems very bad. He got some mess and they gave him some fluids. The next day he wasn’t any better and we had a scheduled visit back at VCA. He passed in the early morning, 0215 to be exact. I sent and email to Pet Passage, surprisingly I was contacted around 0400 and Nugget was picked up from our house at 0900. Pet Passage was made this very sad process so easy. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart… Nugget was definitely a blessing in our life for the 8 1/2 years. He will be truly missed. We love you Nug Bug.
