Oliphant was adopted by us at 4 months old from a breeder in Idaho. He was a purebred ridgeless Rhodesian Ridgeback and his AKC kennel name was Mboni Deep Creek Oliphant on the Zambezi. (Oliphant means elephant in Afrikaans). He started his life out with my husband as a truck dog. He traveled over the road with my husband for 8 years before we decided to retire him from the road. He was the kennel mate for our girl Maggie and would have been 9 years old next month. He loved everyone he met, but there were some people he just didn’t trust and made it clear with his deep grumbles. People tended to steer clear of him because of his size but they didn’t know how sweet and gentle he really was. He’s now riding that big semi in the ski with Jesus at the wheel…with his big brother CJ riding shotgun.
